AWS to On-Premise Kubernetes Migration
Took over DevOps and moved a microservice platform from AWS to on-premise Kubernetes to reduce operating costs.
Context
The project’s microservices and CI/CD pipeline ran in AWS. After the DevOps specialist left, the move to on-premise infrastructure was driven by cost-efficiency goals.
What I did
- Took over DevOps responsibility, including DevSecOps operation of the CI/CD pipeline in AWS.
- Migrated all microservices from AWS to an on-premise Kubernetes environment (MicroK8s) with Docker.
- Implemented GitHub Actions and Argo CD for the on-premise services.
Outcome
- Uninterrupted service delivery during the migration.
- Improved system stability and reduced operating costs.
- Faster deployments.
